Teen Advisory Board Application

2025-2026 Teen Advisory Board

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) fosters collaboration for the Teens in the Driver Seat program, by engaging youth to be empowered and to speak up about transportation safety.

The term of the Advisory Board is from May 1 to April 30.

Applications close on March 31, 2025.

Mission and Vision:

The Youth Transportation Safety Program saves lives and prevents injury among youth through education, empowerment, and peer-led outreach. We are here to make road safety a priority among our youth and in general.

TAB Opportunities

TAB members will have opportunities to enhance the TDS program, learn effective ways to incorporate positive behavior change through peer-led outreach to prevent car crashes, and gain valuable skills, experiences, and opportunities for leadership development.

TAB Qualifications:

Must be:

  • Entering 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the 2025-2026 school year
  • Between the ages of 14 and 18 by September 1, 2025
  • Currently enrolled in school (public, private or home-school)

TAB Requirements:

  • Interest in promoting and enhancing transportation safety awareness among peers and the community.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities and initiative in organizing and participating in transportation safety initiatives.
  • Willingness to be a spokesperson for the TDS program at media events. Training will be provided.
  • Provide feedback, ideas, and opinions on new program materials, safety messages, promotional items, safety messages, promotional items, and related elements.
  • Engaged on TDS social media platforms by following, sharing, and/or assisting in the creation of transportation safety content.
  • Ability to complete assigned projects and tasks.
  • Participate in all TAB meetings.
  • Lead by example by serving as an ambassador for the TDS program.

Member Term:

  • Begins May 1, 2025, and ends April 30, 2026
  • Teen Advisory Board members may serve more than one term, so long as they re-apply and meet qualifications each year

Travel:

TAB members are asked to travel to various workshop trainings, conferences, and/or events throughout the country. Attending these events provides the TAB an opportunity to enhance their public speaking skills, networking opportunities, and expand their reach. Travel reimbursements will be made available, and all requests must adhere to travel guidelines, which are made available before each trip.
